A Blustery Palm Sunday in Tulare, California 4-9-95

Wind is howling
sand is stinging our town's face
palms are waving in Jerusalem
and palms are waving here
at every tumbleweed

Women are previewing
their Easter finery
one week early--
I saw a yellow hat
come out of brunch
at Apple Annie's
and blow away forever

Outside Long John Silver's
the wind whipped off
a man's toupee--
the lady with him
was quite upset
and wouldn't get in the car
