Entrapment

A patch on my heart
my face full of frowns
still you coaxed

“Do come with me
a couple hours
it will be fun
get you away from
your pain
and your prayers”

1 only nodded
‘We went
too jauntily for me
to an oasis of plastic palms
and makeshift waterfalls

‘We entered through a door
stolen from a convent

Down the hall
I could hear steady buzzing
a hive of poets

Why didn’t you warn me
that bees who tipple white wine
can be deadly
